Ms. Judith E. Gonzalez
My family roots are from northern Mexico: Zacatecas and Nuevo Leon. In my nuclear family, I am the second child and only female of four children. And, I am one of the youngest of 32 maternal cousins whom I grew up with. Hence, my mannerisms derive from old-school practices of respect, integrity, and honor.
My first language is Spanish; yet, I am at a college graduate level of biliteracy in both English and Spanish.
My education is as follows: B.A. in English, M.A. in Educational Foundations, a Single Subject Teaching Credential in English with a BCLAD in Spanish. I am a No Child Left Behind Certified Teacher. I am IB MYP Trained. And, I am 21st Century College and Career Pathways trained.
I have worked at: South El Monte High School (1 year), Hawaiian Gardens Alternative Education, LACOE (1 year), Wilson Middle School in 番茄社区 (3 years), Madison School in 番茄社区 (8 years), and at Blair School for 16+ years.
I love to learn. And, I strongly believe that the process of learning should be fun. In fact, I use my sense of humor to get students engaged in what we need to learn together.
I view myself more as a coach than a teacher, because a coach cheers her players on, has her players practice what they need to perfect, and benches her players when they are simply "not in the game."
"Winning" to me are the "aha" moments that happen at different times for each student during the year and/or during their lifetime.
"Losing" to me are the moments when a child shuts-down and gives-up.
So, as long as the clock keeps turning, we can always start over, try again, and move forward.
